Looks like they’re making a trip to the prison instead

A crook who booked a trip to the moon with thousands of pounds swindled from customers has been jailed along with his brother.

Ross Quinn raised the cash by selling items online from their firms including spas, steam rooms and log cabins.

But the majority of customers never received their goods as Quinn and brother Luke fleeced them of £530,000.

The pair also dodged paying £395,000 in tax between them.

Quinn secured a place on Richard Branson’s space tours mission with a deposit.

Andrew Rutter, defending, said the 30-year-old was “obsessed with being successful.”
He added: “He met Branson and put £20,000 down to be one of the first people to go to the moon. That’s how high his ambitions were.”

Quinn, of Coxhoe, Co Durham, told judge Sean Morris in a letter he was the driving force behind the fraud and his 27-year-old brother was “in his thrall”.

Sentencing him to six and a half years and Luke to four years at Teesside crown court after they admitted fraud and tax evasion, the judge told them: “You were both quite prepared to rip-off the public.

“Ross Quinn, to pay £20,000 to Mr Branson to try to be one of the first people on a tourists’ jolly to outer-space, I regard you as a complete Walter Mitty, and a dangerous one at that.”
